A piece of jewelry is forever, but like most precious things it is delicate and fragile. So, while we make pieces that last forever, they demand tender love and care to stand the test of time.

Here are some tips on how you should be taking care of your treasures: 

Store it in a Zip Lock Bag

If you don’t store your jewelry properly, it might lose its color even before you have the chance to wear it. While dumping everything together in a box is a big no, storing it in multi-storage kits might not be efficient either. Jewelry is sensitive to air and moisture; silver accessories often tarnish because of this very reason. So, it’s best to store each piece separately in a zip lock bag and then maybe you can organize them in a box. Also, avoid folding necklaces and bracelets while storing.   

Keep your Jewelry Dry 

Chalk absorbs moisture; you can store your silver jewels with chalk to keep the surroundings dry. Or if that seems dusty you can also invest in some silica packs or dehumidifiers. Also, don’t let your jewelry with pearl and beaded details get wet. It can very well ruin them by loosening the glue.

Keep it Away from Skincare

Your jewelry should be the last thing you wear and the first thing you remove while applying any type of lotion, perfume, or hairspray. Your Akraft Jewels are as precious as YOU and require the same amount of care and attention. Perfumes, strong chemicals, soap, and excessive humidity are a big no-no for your jewelry. So, always wait for the lotion and perfume spray to dry before putting on the jewelry.

Don't take your Jewelry for a Swim

Never wear silver jewelry when you go swimming or to the sauna, the chemicals in the pool and heat at the sauna can damage the piece. Wearing the jewelry while bathing can also lead to faster discoloration.  

Give every piece a chance to shine

Instead of wearing one piece and wearing it off put your jewelry on rotation.

Jewelry isn’t anyway meant to be worn 24/7, so show some love to other jewels by wearing different pieces. This trick not only allows you to flaunt your collection but also helps the pieces last longer. And by picking different jewelry pieces you are also able to keep an eye on your collection.

Keep Gold & Silver Jewelry Separately 

Gold tends to scratch easily, so store every piece individually in soft cloth bags or the original boxes that we deliver them in.

Use Some Home Remedies

All our grannies and mums passed down their effective old-school wisdom with us for cleaning jewels. Here we are going to mention the one that actually works. So get ready to give your Akraft Jewels some DIY care!

Try rubbing a cloth damped in a mixture of dish soap and warm water on discoloring, dull, filmy pieces to get their old glow back. But make sure to dry it properly before storing it.

Regular Care: Give it a Wipe 

Give your daily wear trinket a gentle wipe with an anti-tarnish cloth at the end of the day before storing it to slow down its aging. This will get rid of all the lingering dust, oils, and moisture.

Get Regular Touch Ups 

Just like all beautiful things your jewels also need a few touch-ups every now and then. Although Akraft Jewels are mindfully designed to sustain their shine for a long time, still if you ever need to get their lustrous glory back you can contact us or visit a local jewelry store to get them re-polished.
